YAYA TOURE NAMES KANU AND OKOCHA AS IDOLS

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed that former Nigeria internationals Nwankwo Kanu and Austin Okocha are among his African football idols.

Toure made this known during a short question and answer video interview session on BBC Sport.

The former Ivorian midfielder was recently nominated for the BBC African Player of the Year award.

He is expected to slug it out with current African Player of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund, Algeria and Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez, Senegal and Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Andre Ayew of Ghana and West Ham United.

Aside from Kanu and Okocha, the four-time CAF African Player of the Year, also listed Abedi Pele as his idol.

The former Barcelona midfielder went on to state that his best ever memory with the Ivorian national team was winning the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
