The Minister of Transportation, Rt.Hon.Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi earlier in the day escaped assassination attempt in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Minister, who was driving through the Elekahia/Nkpogu axis was attacked by unidentified armed men led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
While the Minister luckily escaped the attempt by whiskers, persons in his convoy including Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS) were thoroughly beaten with their arms seized by the armed men escorting the Rivers Governor.
Eye witness reports indicate that the Governor personally took away the rifle of one of the SARS Operatives attached to the Minister before heavily attacking him.
It is unclear why the Governor wants the Minister dead.
