It was a full dose of celebrations as the Owieadolors in the great Benin Kingdom had their yuletide festivities crowned with a septuagenarian birthday commemoration. For the family, December 26th remains a special day because apart from the fact that it follows the day that the world celebrates the birth of Christ, it is also memorable as a day that the Almighty God blessed the Owieadolors with the lioness, a woman of peace; Deconness Mrs. Janet Owieadolor. For the great family, this year's celebration is quite significant because the septuagenarian who has been described as a Pilar and a mother of inestimable value, turned 75.
Iye as she is fondly called by her children, grandchildren and loved ones, lost her beloved husband in 1981 at age 39 with 7 children to cater for. But she never let life conquer her; she resigned from the convention of conjugality and submitted wholeheartedly to the Lord almighty. The God of the widows never abandoned Deaconess Janet as He gave her the grace to survive the daunting challenges of life and the capacity to raise and groom her children into people of social importance.
The event which had the president of Pentecostal fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), other clergies, Captains of industries and many other men and women of substance in attendance, was chaired by Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Port Harcourt business tycoon and philanthropist.
Chief DLB took time to extol the woman of virtue; he described her as a worthy example for women all over the world. He wished her well and prayed God to continue showering her with grace and mercy.
The event also witnessed the launching of a book titled the Triumph of Widowhood; a book that provides a detailed account of mama's cross and crown through the the journey of life. It also contains profound messages aimed at encouraging other women with similar ordeals, address the monster of segregation and other challenges women face in their day to day living.
