The State Executives of the Rivers State All Progressives Congress, APC, led by the State Party Chairman, Chief Dr. Davies Ikanya visited Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor LGAs in continuation of the Sensitization tour across the 23 LGAs in the State.
The Chairman while addressing Party officers at the Unit, Ward and LGA levels in PHALGA thanked them for their sacrifices and commitment towards the growth of the Party and enjoined them to remain committed to the ideals of the Party and be good ambassadors and legates of the Party in their various Communities.
He said the membership registration exercise of the Party will continue till January 25, 2018. He urged the officers of the Party to throw open the doors of the Party for intending members to come in and register. He advised them to eschew malicious tendencies in their dealings within the Party adding that it was wrong to allow personal disagreements affect the exercise of their responsibilities in the Party.
"The interest of the Party supersedes personal interest and as such, members are expected to put the interest and welfare of the Party above individualism. The Party has an effective and functional internal dispute resolution mechanism and members should do well to explore it.
The primary responsibility of every Party officer and leader is to woo people into the Party and build the Party. He warned that those encouraging divisiveness and malice in the Party should desist from such vile acts."
Dr. Ikanya further appealed to members to be patient with the Party at both the State and Federal level. He noted that the Buhari-led Government inherited a battered economy which it had to grapple with, however, it has worked tirelessly to improve the economy and its benefit would soon be more visible.
In Obio/Akpor, the State Chairman received some defectors into the Party.
Preceeding the interactive session was a painstaking physical verification exercise of LGA, Ward and Unit officers by the State Party Chairman. Dr. Ikanya called for a more productive relationship between officers and leaders of the Party while condemning any form of attack or insults on leaders. "Lets work together, fuse our energies and ensure the PDP-led government in the State is ousted from power in 2019" the State Party Chairman urged.
Party officers present were given the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions geared towards the growth of the Party. The State Chairman responded accordingly to the questions and thanked the people for their massive turn out.
