Awards Galore: Gov. Wike Must Stop Playing Politics With The Resources of Rivers People

Awards Galore: Gov. Wike Must Stop Playing Politics With The Resources of Rivers People - Redeem Rivers Group
Gov Wike
Redeem River Group has lambasted wike  for picking awards instead of making Rivers State better,  their press statement released today reads :

We the members of the Redeem Rivers Group, RRG, have watched with dismay the misappropriation of the collective patrimony of Rivers people on the pedestal of archaic politics by Governor Nyesom Wike, and we believe that silence would be treason in the face of this wanton display of irresponsibility.

A case in point is the procurement of Silverbird Man of the Year Award and the Sun Newspaper Man of the Year Award respectively. We have it on good authority that Governor Wike spent nothing less than half a billion naira on the purchase of the two awards.

Another worrying issue is the fact that the governor did not only transport over three hundred and fifty members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, via flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos, he also lodged them in choice hotels in Lekki, and all these were on the expense of the Rivers State Government.

We challenge the governor to prove us otherwise by ordering the Commissioner for Finance to open up the expenditure of the state in the past one week for the public to see. We are very sure that the amount of financial irregularity that would be exposed therefrom would confirm our assertion.

To us at RRG, we believe that Governor Wike must be called to order to stop throwing our collective patrimony into the drain, especially at a time when civil servants and pensioners are wallowing in abject poverty due to so many months of unpaid entitlements; students have no teachers to teach them in school buildings that are dilapidated; patients are experiencing harrowing medicare in health centres that are fast decaying; unemployment and poverty are at an all time high; insecurity is escalating on a daily basis etc.

We are calling on all men and women of goodwill to rise up and condemn what appears to be the decimation of the future of both our born and unborn children. May it not be said in the future that we kept silent while our dear state was plundered to death.
