INCRA Slams Gov Wike : Accuses Him of Mischief As It Regards RSIEC

Inter Ethnic Network For Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (INCRA) has accused Gov Wike Of being mischievous and intensifying plans transfer Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSEIC)  staff for personal reasons. Press statement released today by the group's Interim Management Committee (IMT) reads:

"Moves by Governor Nyesom Wike to surreptitiously transfer some top officers of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, ahead of  the purported June 18, 2018 LGA polls has been uncovered and fiercely condemned by the Inter-ethnic Network for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, INCRA.

According to firsthand information available to INCRA, Governor Wike has ordered the immediate transfer of over 66 Senior Staff of RSIEC including 43 Electoral Officers (EOs), Assistant Electoral Officers, (AEOs) and 13 Lawyers in the Legal Department directing them to report to the Rivers State Head of Service. Obviously, Governor Wike's intent is to rid the Commission of all those who are seen to be professional and independent in discharging their duties and replace them with members of the PDP who will carry out his rigging strategies at the polls against other contending Parties like the Labour Party and SDP.

We are surprised that even when the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has publicly declared it was not going to partake in the illegality of the Governor and his RSIEC, the Governor is still ill at ease with the same RSIEC that is under his control. This level of pettiness and unease demonstrated by the Governor is an indication that he and his PDP are not on ground and cannot not stand any elections without seeking undue advantages through infiltrating the electoral umpire. This move by Governor Wike follows the defection of some aggrieved members of the PDP to other Parties on whose platforms they intend to express their constitutional rights to contest the LG polls as a result of the inability of the PDP to conduct credible and violence-free primaries.

It is appalling that the same Governor accusing INEC of bias and complicity is busy manipulating the composition of RSIEC - a supposedly independent commission- to fit into his game plans of rigging the LG polls.
We are certain that the intended LG polls will not stand the test of legality as it is shrouded in illegality and contempt for the judiciary and judicial processes of the land".
