The Young Female Progressives is a group of young females in Rivers State, with intense ardor and commitment towards the promulgation of progressive tenets around their immediate environments; mobilisation of Young Females for the APC as well as championing the inclusion of young females in politics. The group is headed by Miss Pretty Karibo.
In continuation of their drive to positively influence the young females around them, further spread the gospel of Change and ingrain in them the ideals and values that enhance societal development, they have been embarking on an LGA to LGA tour to interact with young females, create awareness and urge them on the need for active participation in politics and leadership.
Propelled by the need for Young female inclusion in the contemporary political equation, they deemed it necessary and appropriate to organise a Ten Thousand Girls Convergence in Rivers State on Friday, 27th July, 2018, themed "YOUNG FEMALES IN POLITICS; A PARADIGM SHIFT".
The event attracted over ten thousand female youths who were ready to take the future into their hands.
The event was attended by :
- Dame Judith Amaechi : Patron of the Group, Founder of Empowerment Support Initiative and wife of the Minister For Transportation.
- Haija Salamatu Baiwa National Woman leader of APC.
- Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on Women Affairs.
- Female political stakeholders in Rivers State
- Leadership and members of Young Female Progressives across the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
Miss Pretty the groups leader while speaking said "The YFP was born out of the challenges facing Young Females in Politics. In this part of Africa, there is an erroneous notion that when you talk about the youths it refers only to Male Youth, Permit me to use the word, “Male Youth” and when you talk about the women it refers only to older women.
In each case there is only Victim, one side-lined category and that is the younger women, the Young Females, so we are neither here nor there, more like a state of De facto classlessness. Therefore, the Young Females with these challenges, came together and decided to push for a paradigm shift that will birth full incorporation of Young Females in Politics.

"Our target is to have at least 100, 000 young females who are Progressive minded and inclined towards the values and ideals of our party by 2019. No doubt, this is a tasking path but we believe it is achievable with the support of everyone of us and if we continue in same spirit and tempo as we have had."
