Dr Dakuku Peterside Mourns The Demise of High Chief Lulu-Briggs.

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside has described the demise of foremost industrialist, philanthropist and community leader, High Chief O.B Lulu-Briggs as shocking and a great loss.


Dr Peterside, who stated this in Port Harcourt said Rivers State has lost one of her most illustrious sons.

According to him, Chief Lulu-Briggs bestrode the Nigerian oil and gas industry like a Colossus and ran of the most successful indigenous oil companies.

"Rivers State has indeed lost one of her greatest icons, a leader par excellence, a philanthropist without equal, a proud Kalabari high chief and role model to many upcoming generations.

"Since the creation of Rivers State, only very few people have touched thousands of lives like the way he did. He was selfless, graceful and humble despite his affluence.

"He was a man for all seasons, he accommodated everybody, young or old, rich or poor, his house was always a welcoming place for all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic background," he stressed.

The NIMASA boss recounted his meetings with the late Lulu-Briggs, saying his words of wisdom were eternal and applicable to everyday life.

"On behalf of my wife, Elima and children, I want to condole with Mrs Seinye O.B Lulu-Briggs and the entire family over this great loss.

"It is heart-warming that daddy left behind capable hands, who can never fill his shoes, but have made their marks in different fields of endeavours.

"My heart also goes to my dear friend and brother, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs and his siblings over the loss of their father, who left indellible marks in the sands of time. May the good Lord console the entire family," he stated.
