NUPENG SUSPENDS STRIKE IN RIVERS. ... orders filling station to start selling with immediate effect

There was a panic in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as fuel scarcity hit the city, following an action by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.
Many petro filling stations in the city refused to sell while others are closed Wednesday morning.
The fuel scarcity which resurfaced in the city Wednesday following a strike action by tanker drivers of in the state.
It would be recalled that there had been unresolved issues between the Demobilisation Taskforce of the state government and tankers drivers in the state.
It was learned that the taskforce had impounded 14 tankers and arrested some drivers over an offence that could not be ascertained at press time and had refused to release the same despite some interventions by NUPENG.
When contacted, the Chairman of NUPENG, Port Harcourt Zone, Mr Alex Egwanwo, disclosed that the cause of the action was following the lingering issues between the state government taskforce and the Union.
But after the state Government, EFCC and other authorities negotiated with NUPENG the State chairman said " i want to specially thank the state Governor, Commissioner of Energy, EFCC other security Agencies for their intervention on this matter, I hereby call of the strike".
Immediately the announcement was made our reporters went round ada George , agip, eagle island , aba road, olu Obasanjo axis of Port Harcourt and noticed almost all the stations were looked and the 2 that were open still had queues
