He is crude, brash, arrogant, boastful, fearless and whatever...
That's who Gov Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
The threat of Coronavirus has put him on his toes, not necessarily doing as much as Lagos State or some other Governors but he's been at his best, shooting from the hips! He takes no prisoners as long as the instruments of power are readily available in his possession.

Yes, you heard me. Wike knows how to use what he has to get what he wants. Spares no dime in pushing a course. Blackmail, truths and half truths are all employed as arsenals once he is on a mission.

He may not be your ideal man for Governance but he sees real governance as heightened power play.

He sleeps, dreams and eats politics. That's all he cares about.
Those who were hailing him when he employed every machinery of the Federal Might to seize power, alter zoning and plummet himself to power in 2015, are now wailing.
Those who aided him to make history from behind, by stopping the major opposition party in his state from appearing on the ballot in 2019, have been forced to drink from his 'poisoned' chalice. The tonic they forced down the throat of thousands of APC members in the State is now being brewed in Wike's winery for their own consumption!

Who can but stop a rampaging Governor whose second term victory was a narrow escape? Almost thwarted by Awara, a new strain of human virus who rattled Wike until he cried for help to the powers that be in Aso Rock.

Today, he challenges the Federal Might without batting an eyelid. His contemporaries in other states have become his pawns on the chessboard! Making mockery of those who had a smoother ride to power in the last elections.
In the local parlance, it is described as this: "Wike no send you."
Now that the nwa nza(the little bird) has challenged his gods and the masquerade has desecrated the wood from where it was carved, who will tell him how he was carved?

While there is a war within a global war, and those concerned deal with this lesser war, I make bold to say that Rivers State needs the aid from the Federal Government to fight against the spread of the virus. The reason is because, all those who live or pass through the state are at high risk due to several years of unchecked activities of illegal bunkering which has consistently emitted the deadly Black Sooth into the Respiratory system of the people.
More than this fight, the people need empathy and something has got to be done fast.
After the pandemic, both parties can continue with their rivalry. For now, Rivers people need to be saved from this impending calamity which cannot be solved by just a lockdown.
