A Brief Citation of Ama Nimigbo Opugbo Rosetta Ogboaya Ilanye George Cookey-Gam
Madam Rosetta Ogboaya George Cookey-Gam popularly called “Moo” by relations, friends and well wishers was born on the 29th September, 1940 to Chief George Cookey-Gam and Mrs. Mabel George Cookey-Gam both of Chief George Cookey-Gam House, Opobo in Opobo/ Nikoro L.G.A. She is the Grand Daughter of Chief CookeyGam. Her Royal and noble background imbibed in her the virtues of self discipline, humility, hardwork and has steeped in Ibani culture that formed the foundation of her achievements in life. She is a woman of many parts. She attended the famous St. George's Primary School, Igwenga (Ikot-Abasi), now in Akwa Ibom State, where she was one of the shining lights in the school.
Some of her classmates include Her Excellency, Dame Christy Toby (wife of former Deputy Governor of Rivers State) and Alabota (Dr) Vilomena Fubara. Madam Rosetta was a good athlete with a strong character and disposition who was well celebrated by her peers. She excelled in her exams, little wonder she passed through Teachers Training effortlessly and taught for many years before marriage commitments ended her unique passion for further formal education.
She is a cultural icon in Opobo Kingdom and honored to be one of the pioneer and founding members of EREMINA OGBO SOCIO-CULTURAL CLUB of Opobo Kingdom, a legendary Club formed by Late Chief Dr. Michael Shoo Peterside and which uniquely showcased the rich cultural values and heritage of Opobo Kingdom in the 80's and 90's. She was one of the lead singers of the group. In recognition of her uncommon sacrifice, commitment, knowledge and support in propagating Opobo Culture, Custom and Tradition, Madam Rosetta was awarded the title AMANIMIBO of Opobo Kingdom by His Majesty, King (Dr.) Dandeson Douglas Jaja, (Jeki V), Treaty King, Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers. Moo as fondly called is blessed to be the mother of Four (4) lovely children two of whom have passed to eternal glory. She is blessed with Grandchildren and Great Grand Children complementing the favour of God upon her life..
On the occasion of her 80th birthday, it is our fervent prayer that God should continue to grant her many more years of divine favour, grace and protection in all her endeavours. Happy Birthday MOO!
