Iron they say sharpeneth iron but this is a case of two bad heads thinking alike. The *ONOLGA* secretariat, an edifice once adoured with activities (official duties) taking place on daily basis has now turned into a dungeon.
Today, we have a premises that can best be described as a grave yard with almost everything dilapidated, and we have those entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the council as a CTC. What is worrisome is the Chairman of the committee not going to the council to know how things are, this has happened from the inception of his appointment and he has less than 1 month to complete his 6 months appointment. This is what you get when a man who has no working experience is in charge of government.
Based on numerous complaints from well meaning people of *Opobo/Nkoro LGA,* we thought it very imperative to take a fact finding trip to the LGA where it was discovered that aside the bushy state of the council, the chairman has not been going to work, there are lots of unattended memos piled up on the chairman's table without attention and that only memos which relates to disbursement of funds are receiving the adequate attention it needed.
We also gathered from residents that the *CTC Chairman Hon. Datubo Pepple* was last seen at the council secretariat two weeks after he was sworn-in in his first tenure and has returned home only to attend a burial ceremony not for official duty. We also gathered that Hon. Datubo has also refused to pay salaries to the cleaners of the council and other staff for about 4 months which is a very worrisome situation.
Hon. Datubo has in the past 4 months received monthly allocations from the state government without going to work and not paying workers. We make bold to ask, where is the money?
In situations as this, what then is the role/duty of the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission?
Governor Wike to further suffer the good people of *ONOLGA* after he has in the past 2 years not done anything for us gave us the *CTC* as we presently have.
Hon. Datubo as a matter of fact should give an account of all he has received in the past 4 months including the Paris Club Refund.
We are therefore calling on the relevant authorities to as a matter of urgency see that the right thing is done to salvage our beloved *ONOLGA* from the shackles of evil men.
