As the general elections draw nearer, the Opobo/Nkoro Constituency and her constituents are now more focused on the political reality than political theories. Need it be explained that politics is about achievements such as developmental projects, human capital development etc? This has led the constituents to ask the following;
1. What will be the difference from the normal political ideas that have been on in the past 3yrs of our representation in the Rivers State House of Assembly?
2. What has the constituents benefited in these yrs?
3. How has the constituency felt the impact of her representative in the Blue Chamber?
We will answer the number 1 question and allow the opposition to answer the questions number 2&3.
Answer 1.
The thing that will be different from the dull political atmosphere we have experienced in the past 3yrs is that, we will experience a robust representation in the person of Hon. Paul Ben-Cookey who is vast in the business of making laws having cut his political teeth as a law maker in the Opobo/Nkoro legislative Assembly between 1999-2003 as Councillor Ward 4. His return the second time at a higher level will better the well-being of the constituency. Hon. Paul Ben-Cookey will be a voice that we lost in the past 3yrs. Hon. Paul Ben-Cookey will be that representative that will bring about proactive and impactful representation.
The constituents having pondered on the questions above and critically looking at the Hon. Paul Ben-Cookey's manifesto, it is now believed that PBC as he is fondly referred to, will not only speed up development but will answer all their worries to a large extent.
More so, it is the first time the youths are captured in the manifesto of a House of Assembly Candidate. This means that many youths irrespective of Political affiliations will be involved in everything concerning the constituency.
The Opobo/Nkoro Constituency women are equally not left out. They continually sing songs of victory for PBC as they are included in the Hon. PBC manifesto through the provision of revolving market assistance to improve their businesses and the establishment of a cooperative that will be managed by them.
Going by equity and fairness, the youths having seen the genuineness of the manifesto and the willingness of PBC to do as he has said, are now ready to do away with docility and the non impacting representative that is representing the constituency.
To right the wrongs, the youths, the women, the men both old and young have decided that it is Paul Ben-Cookey that they want for proactive representation.
