VISIONARY LEADERSHIP VIS-A-VIS GOOD GOVERNANCE

VISIONARY LEADERSHIP VIS-A-VIS GOOD GOVERNANCE

When you think about visionary leadership, you may think of someone like George Washington, who led a war against the British to establish a new nation, or Mahatma Gandhi, who also revolted against the British, but in a very different way. Both men saw that a new vision of governing was possible and set out to achieve it and they did.

With this historical perspective and pressure, you may think that visionary leadership is rare and certainly not something an average person can have. But, visionary leadership doesn’t have to be world changing. You may already have visionary leadership and not know it.

WHAT IS VISIONARY LEADERSHIP?

A visionary leader is an individual who sees the potential for how the world should exist and then takes steps to get there. You can achieve visionary without a leadership role become an idea guy, for instance. And, you can successfully lead people to accomplish a course of action, while not having a vision for the change you’d like to create.

In recent times, we have seen leaders exhibit such potentials of a visionary leader. HEAR WHAT BARRACK OBAMA SAID IN 2014

*"There may and likely will come a time in which we have both an air bone desease that is deadly and in other for us to deal with that effectively, we have to put in place an infrastructure not just here at home but globally that allows us to see quickly, isolate quickly, respond to it quickly. So that if and when a new strength of flu like the Spanish flu comes up five(5) years from now or a decade from now, we have made the announcement, and work further along to be able to catch it."* ~Barrack Obama,
December 2, 2014, Bethesda, Maryland

If Trump didn't play politics of hate, trying to destroy the legacies of Obama, America wouldn't have lost the much they have.

Let's relate the above to our immediate constituency, NIGERIA and RIVERS STATE.

Former President GEJ started the idea of revamping our Rail System He left office without its completion. Without bias and condemnation, his successor, President Buhari is making frantic efforts to see to the completion of that project. Based on the activities of the two leaders, I can say without ambiguity that they are VISIONARY LEADERS.

Bringing it down to Rivers State.
About Seven(7) years ago, the administration of Chibuike Amaechi like Obama, fore saw the crisis of today and as a leader with vision put things in place in the area of AGRICULTURE and HEALTH.

In the Agric sector, we had the Songhai farm, the fish farms, the palm plantation, and the banana plantation etc.

In the Health sector, we had primary health care centers built across 317 wards of Rivers State, Kelson Harrison Hospital, the Dental hospital etc. Are this facilities still functional, if not why? Is it lack of funding?
You'll agree with me that if this facilities were put to proper use and well equipped and updated, some would have served as TEST centers and others ISOLATION centers. I'll end this paragraph by asking, HOW DID RIVERS STATE CONTAIN THE EBOLA VIRUS THEN, so much that it received accolades from all and sundry?

Consequent upon the above, what is the present Government's investment in the Agricultural sector? Is the State food sufficient? What about the rice revolution and where are the factories?

How much is government doing to Sensitize her people? What happened to the Office of the Commissioner or SA on Social Welfare?
Is there any functional information unit of Government like NOA?

Finally, the ability to see the potential for change combined with the ability to lead others creates a visionary leader.
