PCC BOSS ASSURES NIGERIANS OF HIS READINESS TO FIGHT ADMINISTRATIVE INJUSTICE AND MALADMINISTRATION.




The new Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission also known as the Nigerian Chief Ombudsman, Hon. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf has assured Nigerians of his readiness and Commitment to fight and investigate administrative injustice and maladministration at all levels of Government as well  Corporate Institutions in Nigeria.

The Chief Commissioner made the Statement immediately after his inauguration alongside other Federal Commissioners of the Public Complaints Commission at the National Assembly by the Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Lawan. He stated his readiness to reposition and strengthen the PCC to meet the demands of the masses adding that the experiences he gathered as PCC Commissioner representing Lagos State would help him discharge his official duties creditably.

"I have served as Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State which is the economic hub of the nation in the Public Complaints Commission. We received and resolved lots of cases and Complaints. I hope that with my experience, the fight against administrative injustice will take another dimension. I am committed to ensuring that all aggrieved and shortchanged Nigerians get Justice not only free of charge but swiftly as well. My colleagues are all seasoned and experienced technocrats, Former legislators, lawyers and Competent men and women. We will do our best for the Commission".

The PCC Boss also called on other relevant agencies to collaborate with the Public Complaints Commission for effective investigation and resolution of Complaints to avoid unnecessary and avoidable litigations and its attendant complications.

"The fight against administrative injustice is a collective one and we will deepen the existing collaboration with relevant agencies like the EFCC, ICPC, Police and other Stakeholders. We will be meeting with these agencies soonest to  reassure them of our readiness and Commitment to strengthen existing working relationships and collaborations".

The Nigerian Ombudsman promised to put More effort in addressing the challenges of the Commission which includes, Lack of Proper Funding, Publicity and capacity building for Staff of the Commission.

"A lot of people are not aware that they can get Justice Free of Charge through the Nigerian Ombudsman. We will do more publicity and awareness. We will equip the Staff with current and modern Skills through trainings and workshops to match their counterparts in other anti-corruption agencies and further equip them for the job and this will require proper funding. We will equally dialogue with the National Assembly to see how it can help us improve the funding of the Commission to enable us meet the demands of our office. This is the only agency with 37 functional Offices  across the Country as well as Area Offices."

He equally urged Nigerians to embrace the services of the Public Complaints Commission, reiterating that it was free, accessible and available to all.

"The Public Complaints Commission was established to entertain Complaints and grievances from Nigerians. We are there for the downtrodden, the Victimised and the oppressed wherever they are and our services are practically free of charge. Bring Your Complaints against anybody or organization no matter how highly placed the person or organization might be, We must investigate the Complaints. Nobody should take the laws into his or her hands. The Public Complaints Commission is open for all" he added.
